So as I understood, you want to design a lc-bandpass filter with center freq. 0.6 ghz and bandwidth(-3db) 0.2 ghz? Just have a look in a book about filter calculation, it's not so complicate. Or use ads, it has a filter design tool, consider the manual and a simple standard filter is designed in 5 min. If you continue to design, you should also tak

I want to design a double down conversion superheterodyne receiver. Which analysis should be used envelope, harmonic balance, transient etc.? Thanks.
In HB analysis, there is an option called as TAHB ( Transient Assisted harmonic balance). Use this option if your oscillator seems to be not working. But there are some other options to make the oscillators converged in HB controller.Read a bit help of ads. Check the Loop Gain and Phase by using OscPort on an appropriate path to be sure that (...)
Hi guys, I've been doing multitone harmonic balance simulation with ads. I've been using "labels" to monitor the evolution of the power amplitude of the various tones between the devices. I've noticed that the value of the power amplitude shown is always a little bit higher than the expected, and after some controls I've found out the (...)
Dear community, I`ve been doing harmonic balance simulations with Agilent ads on a circuit with many inputs in which every input signal goes through a 5 dB attenuator (1tone/attenuator). In the schematic this attenuator is a 2 Port Data Item which has uploaded S-Parameters from the minicircuits site; if you`re interested, the model`s name is (...)
Hello all, I am trying to simulate the frequency response of a simple rectifier using HB in ads (Vdc x Freq). I have set the sweep variable to be the frequency of the power source of the circuit. When I perform the simulation, however, I get a constant dc output voltage which does not depend on the input frequency. Normally the cut-off frequency
Read "harmonic balance" subject in ads help..
i use this to check impedance matching, because in harmonic balance simulation, when i changed the frequency the input power was changed and i found that might be impedance missmatch. If you use "Power Source with Internal Impedance", the available power will be constant and there will always be mismatch loss due to i
Hi Khaled, In case you wish to visualise the signal in time, then I would recommend you to use transient analysis. For it, once you have built your schematic, just go to the menu on the top of schematic view of your ads and select "Insert Wire/Pin Label" were you see written NAME. Give any name to it, such as Vout, and afterwards point over the
hi everybody, i try to design a DRO @ 9.9 GHz in ads. all conditions for stability are satisfied and it oscillates, but the harmonic balance simulation does not look that good to me. i uploaded 2 pics, the schematic and the HB-simulation. what can i do now to improve my output signal? and why does "Vres" at the transistor input look that (...)
Hello everybody, I would like to simulate in ads the impedance seen from the different components of a Pierce oscillator with the harmonic balance simulator. Dear all, Hi. I simulate a MMIC RF power amplifier (PA) in ads (advanced design system), s-param simulation is working well but harmonic balance not. Increasing the input signal power of the PA, the output signal power increases unconditionaly, even more then DC power dissipation. 3rd order harmonic of the output signal (...)
Hi Friends I designed a Power amplifier using ads, and simulated it with harmonic balance simulator. Since this PA is going to be used in OFDM system, I am looking for a way that simulate it with OFDM input and check the output's shoulder. I really appreciate that if any of you can help me and show me a way to do this in ads.
Hello, I have a little problem regarding the simulation of an amplifier with a driver. The thing is that the simulation terminates due to convergence problems. I have tried many options, like changing the solver, etc. Now I thought, that it may be possible to simulate the driver and the amplifier separately and combine the results in the end.
Let me show you what's inside my DUT. Hope that tells you something . Thank you I'm not familiar with the current-starved oscillator topology, so I probably won't be much help from this point on. All I can tell you is to read up on the OscTest and OscPort component definitions (Help section), and implement them

Hi, When harmonic balance analysis if performed in ads with a noise controller, the phase and amplitude noise is found by plotting .pnmx and .anmx. Does anyone know if .anmx is double-sideband power or single-sideband power?
You have to trace IV curves by using the DC component in the palette. I see you are using HB and DC at the same time. In ads go to design guide and select.
Hey, Thanks for the help...the thing is i cant understand how to give two inputs of different freqs ..... i am using the P1_tone to give the input in cadence RFDE ads, when i put two P1_tones in series i dont get an ouput for the third harmonic.... you can directly use P2_tone compont, set two carriers and ads,yo

Hello Sadegh.j, There are couple of things to note... 1. It depends upon the type & kind of design you are simulating Linear or Nonlinear Circuit ? yes it may show little diffrence in handling nonlinear circuits in Frequency & time domain simulators... 2. Since ads is basically Frequency domain harmonic balance simulations & HSPICE is (...)
