hi antenna experts. i designed a Reflectarray unit cell with proper phase shift in CST. i used unit cells in array and fed it by a horn antenna. the solution type is integral equation. now i want to know how can i gain the phase of each element(phase of fields or reflection phase ) after feeding by (...)
Hi all. I'm working on Reflectarray. i have designed my unit cell by CST. after designing the unit cell i placed the cells in array form and excite it with a horn antenna. now, each element have it's own phase in re radiating field. so we should know the element phases to compensate them to make all elements radiate in phase, but we (...)
I have a horn antenna working at 144GHz with A=12mm and B=14mm. Then I'll illuminate a satellite dish of 57cm diameter with this antenna, with the feed located at the focal point of the parabola. I have the radiation pattern of the horn, made with MATLAB. The goal is to know the beam propagation (power (...)
125997 Any one help me to design Fresnel zone plate antenna in HFSS. The design has two elements. (1) A plate having circular rings of different radii. It can be made by printed technology on RT/duroid 5880. and (2) horn antenna as a feed. My doubt is how can I simulate this complete design (plate+horn)? (...)
hi aswin, link below might help you.
I think it is all related to excitation modes or simulation problems. I am not expert in both areas. Mostly i saw papers on slot antennas using SIW. But interested in H Plane horn using SIW very much and will be happy to see if you got any good results.
hi guys, does anyone know about pillbox antenna for LMDS? now am doing a project about sector horn, but some happened.the questions as follows: first, how to design the aperture to meet the azimuth power pattern?now gain and HPBW are very well, but the power pattern is not suitable for ETSI. second, the peak of elevation power pattern is (...)
How to make coaxial probe for horn antenna in feko. In feko example of horn with line feed i changed parameters and have achieved my desired results now i want to place probe like in hfss Microstrip patch antenna but i have no infinite ground in case of horn. Kindly mention steps (...)
Hi, Please can someone guide me how to assign the port for the offset feed horn? For the focus feed horn, we have the aligned feeding towards our antenna but if we need to make it offset, we need to tilt it so it makes the feeding no longer align with the antenna. So my friend told me to use coaxial probe (...)
Hi, I created a corrugated horn antenna model and I was trying to validate it but there is an error message "non manifold edges found for corrugated". I have tried to fix this issue using the solutions available in previous threads but its not working. Please help me! Thank you very much! Model file is attached.
Hi Everyone, I have designed a horn antenna for Bluetooth application and for simulation purpose I just want to make one with curved end. I have tried to do it by intersecting with circle, but the problem is when I changed the length of the horn antenna the shape of the curve is changed too (...)
Hi, I have radiation pattern results from anechoic chamber which I need to plot. The data which I have are the XY, XZ and the YZ plan each with co and cross pol data. I did the necessary calculation using the horn antenna(source) gain values. Now, how do I calculate the total E field gain? Example, in XY co pol at 5GHz, I (...)
Hi, If I understand you correctly, you are trying to model a realistic version of a horn antenna that could be 3D printed. You could model the horn with ABS material, for example, and then pick the internal faces and create shape from picked face and model that as gold (...)
Best e-book is the Google. By array-antenna, are you looking to build a Phased Array? Or just using multiple arrays to increase directivity and gain? I would've gone for Helical however...
Hello everyone, I want to design a Fresnel zone plate antenna in HFSS. The design has two elements. (1) A plate having circular rings of different radii. It can be made by printed technology on RT/duroid 5880. and (2) horn antenna as a feed. My doubt is how can I simulate this complete design (...)
Have you studied the currents on the outside surface of your horn antenna, particularly around the mouth of the horn? It sounds like you might have high currents that are leaking back onto the outer surface of your antenna, and these currents might be creating the radiation. I think there is a Field (...)
With the EXPLOSION of 3d printing, has anyone come across a LOW COST way to fabricate microwave components for prototyping? I mean a method of making precision tolerance microstrip on FR4 or Duroid for maybe under $500? Or a way of making waveguide and antenna horn type components from sintered metals for maybe under $1000? It (...)
As you know nothing about antenna design, find and study a good textbook, like Kraus, J.D. antennas, and Kraus, Radio Astronomy. yes an awesome place to start to learn the basics and more you also need to decide up front what frequencies you want to receive. You are only going to use a dish (...)
Hi, I've set up a pyramidal horn in CST MWS 2014 with the following properties: Directivity: ~20dBi Design frequency: 10 GHz Waveguide measurements is standard EIA WR-90 x-band. I've simulated this with a E-field monitor and a farfield monitor and the plots for the farfield has good agreement (...)
Hi, everybody, i need all your help. I want to measure near-field of antenna, e.g. horn, like on the picture. 110917 and i need do it with a macro.110918 I used eField probe like here 110919 To measure all the aperture of horn, i need to use construction For...Next.
if you are in the garden, and have a rubber hose flowing with water...the water comes out at say 1 gallon per minute, in a wide gushing flow. You now screw on a nozzle at the end of the hose, and the pressure builds up, and the water starts to stream in a pencil thin beam, 20 feet away, but still at 1 gallon per minute...just more (...)
Hi all! I'm a new-baby in using HFSS. I have a problem when creating a design of horn antenna. and I'm getting a error "Non-manifold edges found for part...". I don't know how to solve this problem. I will really appreciate your comments.
Hi anyone. I'm trying to simulate a parabolic reflector antenna with horn feed in FEKO.I want to solve this problem with MLFMM method.but when I run, this error appears: FMM and PO are not allowed in the same model! Help!
Q1: Suppose horn antenna is used to transmit wave toward a target equipment under test (EUT), then what is the plane of incidence. Since with reference to the Incidence plane, TE and TM is defined. Plane of Incidence is a plane perpendicular to the EUT surface which also contain the incidence wave. Q2: Is any formula available to (...)
a spectrum analyzer with a horn antenna nearby will do it....would start with a 30 dB attenuator pad in between the antenna and the analyzer. You can "max hold" the spectrum analyzer and after many passes figure out the frequency. If you have access to the hardware, you could insert a directional coupler (...)
hi everybody. I'm designing a wideband (6-18GHz) double ridged horn antenna. the waveguide that i want to use is WRD650. and it can operate in 6-18GHz. I used HFSS to design the waveguide , and the S11 was very bad(about -4dB). it means that no wave propagate inside the waveguide. i used PML at the end of (...)
What about rotate the antenna? Z
Hi all, I have a question about requesting S11 parameter in FEKO. I'm modeling a horn antenna, and I would like to "measure" the mismatch between the antenna's aperture and the air. How could I do that? Thank you in advance!
Hello again! I am searching for cheapest manufacturing process for horn antennas. Quantities about 100pieces. I ordered cutted thin copper plate and standard flange waveguide. I thought it will be pretty easy to make conical hor by soldering flanges of copper sheet, because all sizes was calculated and looks (...)
hi. im working on a linear horn array with slant polarization, from 6-18GHz . could any body help me in a proper horn element with slant polarization. or a technique to rotate 45 degree the polarization. thanks.
Generally spoken when you have a very light-weight foam, the loss can be very low, even when the base material has relative high loss. Low density results in low loss and relative dielectric constant close to 1. From experience with a high Q resonating antenna, prolonged exposure to moisture may increase the dielectric loss. Some expensive exam
For adjustment of my Return loss and gain. Is the cable not impedance matched to the antenna? So are you looking to design the excitation pin then? I'm also not sure what a 'portcap' is. Does it have another name?
well, is your entire antenna inside of a waveguide?
Absolutely..!! Take the example of a horn antenna.. The lower and Upper Plates are not parallel to each other and the horn Radiates..!!
Download the free evaluation of antenna Magus. The horn antenna is included. Just input your frequency range and click "design". You can then export the model to CST if you want and import there for further playing around.
I'm Looking for design coax to rectangular waveguide using T bar, including method and equation. Pls help here are dimensions on a 4-8 ghz tbar horn antenna. The coax is not shown in the sketch, but the center conductor comes down from the top waveguide wall to the exact middle of the crossbar. [COLOR="silve
use antenna design kit for horn antenna .. That's certainly a start and gets one a horn drawn easily, which is paramaterized so you can change values easily. But if I recall correctly, one can only specifiy the frequency and waveguide size of the horn - not the gain. At (...)
I'm looking to try to design a pryamidal horn antenna for the 3 cm amateur band (10.0 to 10.5 GHz) to mount to WR90 (WG16) waveguide. I'd like to look at antenna deisgns with gains in the range of 15 to 25 dBi. Anything less than 15 dBi is not really good enough, and anything greater than 25 dBi looks to (...)
in my experience, you can have a patch antenna excite a standard waveguide horn. It works ok. It is especially useful if you need isolation between multiple antennas, as in a cw radar with a transmit and two receive horns. If you just had 3 patches on the same board, the leakage between (...)
hiii Plese help me out in finding the cross and copalr level of the attached corrugated horn antenna design as i m not sure that the excitement at the port is given correctly or not.......
I have tried to design a Pickett Potter horn antenna with Ansoft HFSS. When i get the lambda for 8.7GHz and select the solution frequency also 8.7GHz than always shown error messages: 1. Fast sweep setup.process hf3d error: Matrix solver exception: out of memory. 2. Simulation Completed with execution error on server: Local machine. But, (...)

I am also working on corrugated horn antenna and I am getting co-pol(gainx) +20 dB and cross pol(gainy) -18 dB. But, problem is that I am getting peak in cross pol at boresight. Can you help me in finding reason for the same?
Can anyone help me for designing orange peel reflector antenna? I designed it with Integral equation solver in CST MWS software, but when i placed horn in front of a reflector and run it in transient solver, patterns are lost. I do not what can i do, Please help meeeeee I needed it very soon my email:
To get the circular polarization, your antenna must generate two linearly polarized waves with 90-degree phase shift. You can insert a dielectric "quarter'wave" plate diagonally in the rectangular waveguide.. The result will be an elliptic polarization, but by fine adjustments of the plate thickness and length you can get the circular wave. Use Te
in what aplications? waveguide, antenna, could you give more details?
81917 i want to measure Radar cross section is based on the measurement results which I got in two exel files one is real and other is imaginary data . In this assignment . my teacher examined horn antenna and corner reflector and calculate rcs (Radar cross section) . I have uploaded my assignment i (...)
Hi, I am trying to design a microstrip reflectarray fed with a offset horn antenna. and I have some questions. 1) Unit cell and phase curve How can I model a unit cell in HFSS such that all the information can be included?
