Hi, I want to make a can bus demo development board, for which I would request for suggestions for suitable micons from pic. I have following criteria. 1. Should be DIP ( greater than 28 pins) 2. Should have decent RAM (8K) 3. Should be programmable through picKIT 3. 4. 8/16 bit 5. Is available in India (online) (...)
How long is the distance between each pic? If you have 3 or more pics one idea could be a looped bus. each pic has one receiver and one transmitter. pic1 TX to pic2 RX, pic2 TX to pic3 RX, and pic3 TX to pic1 RX. If the (...)
Hi sangeo, the pic IO-extender offers 16 IOs per package and three can operate on the I2C or SPI bus( ). If you use the 8 bit wide 74HC165 you need to decode the I2C/SPI bus and select the in series connected six HC165. Than 6x8 bit cloc
Hi, Is it a USB HOST? can you tell more about it? if the first post #1 a pic18F47J53 was mentioned which only supports USB device not sure what the USB is for ? if the project is to received data from a parallel bus why not interface the bus directly to the pic (possibly thru level changers)?
Here I am posting mikroC PRO pic code for multiple I2C LCDs. With this you can have a device like DS1307 of I2C bus and also 8 I2C PCF8574T based LCDs. I didn't post this in my previous thread in DIY section because its title had CCS C Project but this is mikroC PRO pic project. I have used these I2C LCDs
Hi, I'm using pic18F2580 and MCP2551 can transceiver. My goal is to implement basic can bus monitoring program to capture can's frame ID, data length and data bytes. I use logic analyzer and can see that canRX pin on pic is continuously receiving (...)
It is SPI device and you can use software SPI. Just make a function with a loop which sends a byte, 1 bit at a time. Use this function to send as many bytes you need. Mention how data is sent..i.e., whether MSB is sent first or LSB.
Hello to all! I'm new here and I am making a project for connect 10 ds18b20 to a bus and public to internet with board pic-web - rev 3 - pic1867j60 on board. Hi can anyone please tell me whether a LIN transceiver(MCP2003) is required in an interface between pic micro controller with EUART and LIN bus in a vehicle? If it is required, then what is the use of EUART in uc for interfacing with LIN bus? can I use the regular UART?Will the whole circuitry compatible (...)
Examples (they are for pic16F877 but you can easily use them for pic18F46K20): A Simple Clock using DS1307 + pic16F877A DS1307RTC MikroC I?C Library
General guidelines: First think to check on what Logic it is working.. second is to check the comparability between controller and encoder whether we can interface the bus directly or not.. If above two are ok then you can GPIOs as a interface if there is no dedicated interface for encoder..
You can change the pic18F2550 operation from bus powered to self powered.
I am trying to implement can bus protocol using pic16F877a.here am attaching the schematic and board file.can anyone check my circuit and tell me whether its right or not.I'm using 20Mhz crystal for both pic and MCP2515.Also can anyone send me a code for implementing single (...)
Language C handles intrinsiclly numbers with magnitude grater than core bus size. Even in ASM language, you can take math libraryes ready to use. However, if you want to exercize some logic induction, can do it. +++
Hi I am trying to interface L3G4200D 3 axis gyroscope with pic 16F877A, using i2c bus. I tried to write the code but something is wrong in code, all I can get is -1 value. here is the code #include "D:\1\main.h" #include unsigned int x,who; #use i2c(Master,Fast,sda=PIN_C4,scl=PIN_C3) ///////////////////////////
Hi. I'm (trying) to design a canbus node for my home automation project. Any given node consist of a main-board with a power supply circuit, a pic18F26K80 and a demultiplexer to handle the chip select of up to 8 daughter boards. A daughter board will at have a (small) pic running in SPI slave mode. The main board will (...)
Hi guys, I am doing a project in which i have to connect some sensors to a can bus. So, i need to have separate microcontrollers with each sensor which could read the sensor and put it on the can bus. Someone suggested me to use pic microcontrollers for connecting each sensor to the can (...)
You have to know the part number and you can use Google to search up the datasheet of that part. The datasheet will describe if it is 8-bit or 16-bit, etc. Common 8-bit series microcontrollers: pic 10, pic 12, pic 16, pic 18, ATTINY, ATMEGA, 89C51, etc Common 16-bit series microcontrollers: (...)
Hi, 1. As Arun mentioned no microcontroller will come with built-in Bluetooth support. Search for Bluetooth modules that will have SPI/I2C/UART/Parallel bus digital interface. And appropriately select the pic that can handle any of these interfaces. 2. Why 5V AC ? please be aware thaty you cannot power any of these (...)
You can use two of these RS-485 tranceivers with proper driving of the control pins !RE and DE. Yes, with some additional logic gates, if the pic TxEnable signal is available. But this point isn't clear from the initial post,
I want to interface 2 pic microcontroller...plz suggest ways using a SPI and also using a can bus protocol...send me if u have C source code for it...
use a dds like the ad9850 from analog devices you can have a precision of 1/100e of a Hz with it and you can drive it from your pic mcu with serial bus. regards,
Dear friends, as title says, I want to read can signals from a can bus. My hardware connectionis like this. can module (can HIGH and can LOW)----------->MCP 2551------------>MCP2515------------------->pic microcontroller MCP 2551 config: TXD connected to TXD of (...)
Hey World, I am working on a project in which I am using USB and can together. I am sending data to the pic32MX795F512L on the Ethernet Starter Kit from the PC and sending data out through the can bus. I can get both modules to work individually but when placing the two together in the same program I (...)
endpoint is the buffer to which data can be sent to or received from. Pipe is a logical representation of communication with a particular endpoint.
With standard pics, code can be only executed from flash program memory. Some special types have a data bus and can use external program memory.
I copied the code for can bus... from the book "Advanced pic microcontroller projects"... Dogan Ibrahim... It is compiled and gives no error in MikroC Compiler but when i simulate that program on Proteus, i get an error "Read of can Controller Register 0x0F6E(canSTAT) returns last value stored". May anyone (...)
Hi folks, I am looking for an IC that I can use to protect a data bus from the outside world so to speak. Basically the data bus is going to be connected to a possibly unstable environment and I need to protect against voltage spikes upto roughly 40V. The data bus is connected to a pic and therefore (...)
Hello! The circuit is quite easy. See attachment. So you need 4 wires, 3 for the SPI bus and one for chip select (use a general purpose IO port). The drawing was for MSP430, but any processor would do it. And if you don't have a SPI port, you can make one by bit banging. What kind of source code do you want? I think you can find everything (...)
Take a look at this website if you want to **** the bus, canbushack: **** Your Car . Also buy the J1979 specification. To interface to the OBDII, all you need is just a can transceiver and connect to your micro. I believe there is can stack for the pic. To talk to the J1979, all you need (...)
Hi. I think both hardware and software can cause this problem. You shoud use some software like bushound to get data on usb bus. And see if the PC get right usb device describe table.
I assume you know how to make an application in pic to integrate the required software module to support the corresponding hardware 1) You can interface an IR sensor to detect motion simply. Select the sensor and look through its data sheet about how to interface it with a microcontroller. 2) Camera Sensors usually support an I2C bus (...)
The can module is interfaced to the can bus using a transceiver. So it is the transceiver that matters. Decreasing the bit rate allows for longer network distance. 500m at 125kbits/s is possible. You would have to try out a system at 1000m and see what results you get. If you get too many errors, you could use a repeater half way down (...)
Hi, I am a design enginner working on TCA8418 keypad controller. we have interfaced a pic 24f processor with it . The i2c bus is pulled up with a 3.3 k pullup resistor and 1.5 k series resistor for voltage drop from 5 v to 3.3 v as the TCA8418 is a 3.3V IC and pic24f is a 5v chip. can any body help me as i am not (...)
Hello friends. I have a question : how can I connect a 12v DC wire that may be positive or negative to a input pin of pic MCU with no polarity change ? (I connected 470k resistor but no change see)(the another problem of me is in pullup 10k resistor of MCU input pin that change my polarity) Thanks for answers. Best Regards.
Nobody can give your a good answer for this question. It's a question like "I want fly to the moon. What is the best microcontroller for it." We need more input. How much timer, IO-pins, which bus system,ADC,DAC, how much RAM,FLASH,PROM ..., power supply, speed, temperature, shock etc. Regards Gomez
can i use basic language to program it
i m using pic16F877.. i would like to use 25 analog device as input signal, so i choose to use four pic to control it(one pic can control 8 analog input).. the four pic will send a command to LCD when either one of the analog device give input value.. the problem is how should i do in order to let (...)
First, you have to convert this anaolg signal to digital signal - hex numbers - and then you can transmit these hex bytes via RS-232 link to your PC .. So, choose a pic that has build-in ADC, or use external ADC and control it with any pic microcontroller .. Attached is an example: pic controls ADC via I2C (...)
You need a tranceiver chip to convert the canRx and canTx signals from the pic to the differential can bus lines, can high and can low. A common choice is the Philips TJA1050, or Microchip do a tranceiver which is pin compatable, cant remember the part (...)
Hi all, can anyone post some info on displaying pictures(*.jpeg) on a 65k tft LCd screen using either pic or AVR microcontrollers. I'm planning to do a project on that. Thanks.
Hi If you are planning a commercial project and plan to use pic as host you can get the TCPIP code for free from microchip. Other wise search google and you will find some site whom you can down load the tcpip code All the best Bobi
There are some companies that sells RS232 to Bluetooth converter directley interfacing to controllers. you can try them.
hi martinisonline, i'm interested too. can you post you code? best regards, stroma
Hi, Simply don't do this. It will be your disaster to come. Better use RS485 with packets and current sources. Then you can use the UART on the pic. regards, Paul.
gidimiz: can you explain us why multimaster doesn't work?
I usually use the 24LC256 (256K bit or 32K byte serial EEPROM). You can use up to 8 memory IC's on the same bus and you can use I2C. Download the datasheets for more info. You can download it from microchip's site and you can get I2C examples from them.
As a port expander you can use parallel data transmission, and it is quite fast if you use microcontrollers which use multiplexed address/data bus such as 8051 family (with built-in control line such as RD, WR, and so on..) - 8255 the best example .. For pic, however, I would rather consider I2C bus and port expanders (...)
Hi all, I want to interface a sensor that supports Fieldbus,Profibus and Modebus with pic Microcontroller for measurments. Now as i am just started study the possiblites to accomplish this task i have a dought in my mind. The question is .. Is it possible to use can bus feature of (...)
