hfss calculates directivity, gain, and power radiated, but I was wondering if I can measure them physically (without a simulator). If so, what equipment, technique, etc. is used for that? Please reply ASAP as I have a presentation due soon. Thanks
The gain/directivity change with S11. I am not an hfss user, but for the EM simulators that I have, gain can be calculated both ways: with or without the "loss" from S11. For directivity, that refers to the total radiated power anyway, so it is independent of S11.

hfss provides several "versions" of gain. Read online help carefully to see the distinctions. You can go into the post processor, far field section and look at the report options to see the choices. obtain the gain/directivity with hfss and then use the formula G=4piAef/lambda^2
i simulate a gsm dualband helical antenna in hsff. but the peak gain and directivity computed by hfss is always below -10dbi, this is obviously wrong, and the radiated power always large than the accept power, how it can be?
