I did not used hfss, but I guess there must be examples for such antennas. You can start by altering examples, and make them from scratch to remember typical steps. For example, Sonnet lite have example of coaxial fed patch antenna.
HI, i have designed an cavity backed antenna in driven terminal using two co-axial coaxial feed length is 40mm..if i assingned air as material to the cavity i can run the simulation without the error and my return loss value is less than -10db.if i am assigning copper as material to the cavity i am getting very low return loss.what mat
Hi, I am trying to simulate a coax connector in hfss and trying to correlate simulation results with theoretical formulae. Currently, I have modeled a coax connector with a GOLD inner conductor and PTFE dielectric(epsilon = 2.1). I have setup ports at both ends of the coax with port impedances 50 and 80 ohms respectively. As per theoretical
How can I draw magnetron vanes in hfss? If I simulate a magnetron whit 2 coaxial cylinders, then how can I simulate the magnetic field applied to the cylinders? (in magnetron we have a magnetic field crossed with produced electric field(or electric current from cathode to anode) tnx alot
Hi, I tried the simulation with hfss 13 and 15, and I got similar results in terms of matching and radiation patterns. My only concern is that you use an air-dielectric coaxial, or you forgot to assign material (e.g. Teflon) to the air in the coaxial probe. Regards, Pere
Hi, Have a look at this website : In hfss, you can draw a 50 ohms coaxial line to feed this antenna. Look at the hfss tutorial : there is one example that deal with a rectangular patch antenna feed by a coaxial line. A PIFA antenna will not be difficult to draw on hfss.
Hi all, Could anyone tell me shall I normalize the waveport impedance to 50 Ohm when simulating a waveguide structure in hfss? And why? Thanks in advance.
You can find a good details about coaxial feed simulation in hfss by visiting this link good luck
Hi. I has designed a microstrip patch antenna array in hfss. It's feed is an coaxial SMA.But in simulation the wave is not going throw the array. The inner in coax is tangent with the array and it's shield is tangent with the ground plate
Yes. the Port looks good. I do a simulation from your project and it works. But you should do some work on it, because your "air" is not very well placed. It should be lambda/4 away from all edges of the antenna. And i don't understand the sheet "Rectangle1". The resonance frequencies in my solution are 820 and 1095 MHz. @mohamed.hagag i use both
I am a new user on hfss. And I am creating a coaxial probe. The simulation result in S11 does not show properly. Can anybody help me to have a look my hfss file? Thank you. 86358
Hello Everyone The Problem i have here is more of a drawing problem in hfss and not the simulation.I have a co-axial cable that is being used as an element of a bifilar helix, after drawing the helix, from the tip of helix the coaxial cable is to be drawn at 90 degrees from the tip.does anyone have any idea how to do this.i have drawn the (...)
hi.. need to feed an annular slot of avg. radius 7.7mm and thickness 1mm..need to do the simulation in hfss..tried alot..din work yet..wil be thankful if u cud help..
Hello I'm a newbie to hfss and I'm trying to design an inset fed patch antenna design using hfss. Does anyone have any steps (not coaxial patch antenna) of the inset fed patch antenna design using hfss? I'm trying to run this simulation for my school project! Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
hello; im going to design a printed antenna withcoaxial feeding resonants at 3 and 5.5 GHz at the same time. i modelled this antenna with cst and hfss respectively. simulation results are fitting. so i fabricate this antenna and get the measurement results. but there are differences between simulation and measurement. i (...)
why does my simulation work with coax excitation even without any outer conductor? And will the use of a pec-outer-conductor influence my results in comparison to these without any outer conductor? If you define your radiation boundary where your coaxial is outside the boundary, you don't need to define the outer conductor.
Dear forum I am designing a planar microstrip UWB antenna using a fractal geometry. I am working on hfss. I dont know how to connect the port to my design. Should i use a lump or a wave port. I used a lumped port by creating a rectangular patch between the printed side and additional ground (on reverse of substrate) and then assigned it as lump
Hello everyone, I am trying to simulate a 3x3 antenna array in hfss. I am only concerned about the response of the center element, and thus only need 1 wave port. All of the stacked patch antenna elements are fed with a bottom-fed coax probe. Is there a way to ensure a 50 ohm termination on a coaxial probe without inserting a wave port? I wa
hi there i am new to hfss although with what i know about hfss i tried to get the result of a structure given in a research paper. its related to simulation of two patch antenna with and without slot in ground plane. i tried many days but i couldn't produce the same result as given in the paper. i am posting the paper details and my (...)
For the purpose of training and education, I am looking for an example of using hfss to visualize the effect of an antenna connected directly to a coaxial cable. How to visualize the external current in the coaxial and see the difference when connected to a BALUN. Anyone has a model like this?...Or any ideas?
Dear all I am a student and i am trying to design 2 arm archimedean spiral antenna@60GHz in hfss 10. however the simulation result of s11 can not be hfss design, i put lump port in center of spiral, between 2 spiral arms.I want to match it with coaxial 50 ohm. so how can I control the impedance of the spiral (...)
For the transition between coaxial line and waveguide, the coaxial line should be about quarter-wavelength away from the short end of waveguide. In hfss model, two waveports should be set in the end of coaxial line and the open end of waveguide.
well i'm not sure but i did somthin similar with microstrip simulation on hfss add a plane at the input of the line touching the inner and outer conductors the assign this plane as a wave port the in tegration line is the center line of the pale ( the plane is a XY plane if the propagation direction is Z )
hi, im faced with the problem of simulating a helix antenna in hfss. i have created a valid helical antenna with ground plane and coaxial feed .but the actual simulation is taking a lot of time, and getting struck just after initial meshing. so does anybody have any idea of how to reduce the simulation time and get it (...)
For a single connector simulation using hfss, please direct me if you have any comments on it: Please kindly download my file and check any part of it has error! 1. For a practical case, do I need to setup a definite thickness of the outer shield cylinder with finite conductivity? 2. Do i need to setup a box for boundary? since thi
I am doing microstrip patch anteena using hfss but I want to feed my antenna by coaxial cable but I do not know how should I do. thanks in advanced
I think picture is not giid, this is not coaxial feed and solder point is not clear. Can you check sourse of this design. I know this antenna type but better to check. For modeling adn IE3D and hfss are good, maybe IE3D are some faster in calculatiing.
We ran a complete set of test on hfss. check the zipped pdf. It's written in german though. Just ask if you have questions. Hope it helps. D.
Here is a topic talk about hfss simulation:
If you have access to 64bit Sun or HP machine with enough RAM, you should be able to complete the simulation using hfss.
Hi, I'm trying to simulate a type of coaxial antenna as attached. The outer conductor is stripped off at one section, exposing the dielectric. And the inner conductor is extended. This design is suppose to give a far-field radiation pattern similar to a half-wave dipole. However I tried modeling it in hfss, I kept getting 4 lobes, instead of
Hi all! I'm a beginner in hfss. The first thing I'm trying to do is simulate a simple monopole Lambda/4 antenna with an infinite ground plane. I have a problem with this, I'll resume what I've done: - I've drawed a 2D plane, and then substracted a circle. - Then, I've drawed a coaxial line. The outer cylinder has the same dimensions that the 2
