I use the fast sweep. In previous versions of hfss, a discrete sweep was required. This might still be the case in newer versions (I'm not sure) -- if you can't get your plot working try it out.
. I'm designing a horn antenna material used is aluminum .When I run it this error fast sweep setup, process hf3d error: Failure in generating reduced matrices.. . please help me .thanks !!!
Most companys use hfss. CST is growing fast in users, but is still not the major design software used for antennas. It really depends ... hfss is very popular in their home country (USA) but over here in Europe we see lots of CST. Back in the old times, when hfss was known for its frequency solver and CST was known
However, it looks some of the resonance peaks returned by hfss are OVERLAPPED or DISORDERED (f_res should change 'monotonically' with L), although the general trend looks very good. The resonator frequency is sensitive to the mesh. For accurate center frequency you need a good mesh. FEM requires adaptive meshing,
hello I am doing simulation on corrugated horn antenna in 15 GHz using hfss . after completing the simulation it gives following warning Adaptive Passes did not converge based on specified criteria. Normal completion of simulation on server: Local Machine. How can i remove this warning message and what do the
I have a design of spiral inductor with multi-layer dielectric material substrate. If I create 20 layers of different SiO2 materials, initial mesh takes forever. (Solving matrix also takes long time.) If I consolidate the dielectric material into 3-4 layers, it becomes really fast. It seems like consolidation can give me different solution
I have designed a dipole folded antenna in hfss 13 version. when I start analyzing the design, it is showing "Simulation completed with executing error on server" and "out of memory". My system is a 32-bit one and has 2GB RAM. please, help me to overcome it. I need to complete the design within 3 days.. Thank you,
Hello, Does anyone know how I can set the coarsest mesh? My solution frequency is 8.4 GHz, but the whole structure is 500 mm by 500 mm by 500 mm that hfss runs out of memory when I run the simulation. I always used default meshing, but what should be the maximum length or maximum number of elements? Thanks in advance.
Hi everyone, I met a problem when I use hfss's Driven Terminal to simulate a structure. It is a warning, "fast sweep setup, process hf3d: Poor convergence in seeding data." My simulation setup is following, Solution Frequency: 14.25GHz - Adaptive Solutions Maximum Number of: 20 Maximum Delta S: 0.02 - Adaptive Options Maximum Refin
I suggest you can just start with a random value and optimize the hfss or CST, only two parameters need to be optimized, according to my experience, it can be optimized very fast.
the lumped port can't touch the ground in my model,I have trid to expand the port, but it still get the error: "fast sweep setup, process hf3d: '1' conductors touch lumped port '1', typically a lumped port contains 2 conductors. Please verify conducting boundaries and objects are correctly assigned and touch the port. If a Radiation boundary to
Hi, I want to design a patch on the outside surface of a cylinder(Please check the attached file), it includes only one port, which connects the inside and outside surface. Then I get an err:"fast sweep setup, process hf3d: '1' conductors touch lumped port '1', typically a lumped port contains 2 conductors. Please verify conducting boundarie
Accuracy, Speed, Cost.... Pick two ;) If you want fast and free it will not likely be an accurate solution. I suggest the use of hfss as I have worked many metamaterial applications with success. Kind Regards, tallface
hello sr, i am working with hfssv11.1 for computing rcs of a rectangular metal plate.i want to know how rcs may be plotted vs the rotation angle of the is plotting only rcs vs. iwave theta. plz reply fast....thnk you.
I am using a metamaterial as superstate to enhance gain of antenna. When i use 10 pass with center frequency 2.5 GHz for the frequency range of 1-3 GHz using fast sweep i got good result. But when i use 10 pass with center frequency 2 GHz for same frequency range of 1-3 GHz i got poor both the cases hfss shows that convergence criteria i
ADS-Momentum is based on moments method (with some fast algorithms and approximations) which should be fine for these conductor based passives. Very true. The method of moments solver are full wave solvers. The hfss and CST marketing guys like to talk about their tools as "full 3D", but method of moment
Hi all i read hfss user guide 11 but not able to understand the significance of convergence, adaptive meshing, discrete meshin, when we should choose in analysis set up as fast, linearcount , discrete and what they all mean help in this respect katik
Hello, I'm designing a relatively high Q (300) transmission line resonator designed to resonate in the 1mm band. I perform a fast sweep across the frequency range 150 - 350 GHz with a frequency step of 0.5 GHz. This simulates fine and when I plot the S-parameters I see a low resolution resonance curve, where the 0.5 GHz points are joined up
All this software is somehow useful for planar filter design, if you know the filter design methodology. hfss, Sonnet and CST can do EM simulation to analyze the layout when it is ready. ADS and AWR can do both: fast circuit model simulation to develop the initial layout, and also EM simulation to analyze the layout when it is ready. hfss (...)
Hey, I am using hfss 13 and my design has many small cylinders(1000-10000). Size of the cylinders is small in compare to dimension of the design . While running it I kept getting the "out of memory" message even decreasing the # did not help that much so we are going to buy a new "fast computer". Do you have a suggestion for us? What OS, process
Hello i want to know the difference between the fast sweep and the interpolating sweep in hfss. when i simulated my design with interpolating sweep it gave me vswr from 2 GHZ to 12 GHz but when i simulated the same design it gave me vswr from 2GHz to 8 GHz, why is it so? And do we need to do simulation with fast sweep for getting the Gain (...)
Hi Debora, The hfss fast sweep and discrete sweep is actually not much difference. From my experience, usually it's better to use fast sweep for faster simulation process. Discrete sweep takes a really longer time. When you use fast sweep in hfss, your solution frequency must be in (...)
Hi fyp05, You can easily plot the Gain vs Frequency using hfss. Follow the following steps: Go to hfss-->Results-->create far field report-->rectangular plot A new window will open up: IN solution tab: select 'sweep1' or the name which you have given for the frequency sweep used for your antenna. In Primarysweep tab: Select Freq, you c
hi all can we simulate microstrip patch antenna on ansoft designer how it will be diffrent as compared to hfss, ie3d and Cst does ansoft desiner is fast as compared to hfss regards kartik
Hi I am designing a cavity filter with fo @1600MHz and 50MHz BW in hfss. So, I setup a solution frequency @1600MHz and the results are slightly different (offset by 50MHz) from what is given in the IEEE paper ("True Inline Cross Coupled cavity Filters "). I am using fast frequency sweep (1GHz-2GHz). I thought meshing frequency is good e
The first solution is to update to hfss13!?!?! hfss10 is insanely less efficient... As for your error (seems to be self explanatory?!): Your waveport is exciting a mode(s) that is evanescent in the frequency range, ie cutoff. fast sweeps do not support evanescent modes.
I am trying o design wilkinson power divider with coaxial probe feed at 16GHz. Please it some one can write down the deign procedure. Also please tell me how can I check this divider in hfss (how feed is given at input? what should be at output ports?). Finally how can i see the plot of S21,S12,S22 etc please write the steps for hfss. I will be re
hi u should zip hfss main file and then u can attach them
I read a post that was describing the frequency sweeps in hfss, and I noticed that some of the information was out-of-date. But the poster had good intentions , so this is a follow up with updated and correct information. Latest Release: hfss13.0.2. There are 3 frequency sweeps in hfss: Discrete, fast, and (...)
Better to use Floquet Ports and Master Slave boundaries. hfss does these well and fast this way. See tutorial for getting started guide of unit cell setup. have fun
I am designing a dipole meander line antenna using hfss for RFID application that suppose to resonate around 1.5GHz frequency. And my Solutions frequency is 1.5Ghz, with sweep setup of fast sweep, sweeping from 500MHz to 2Ghz. I am using a wave port with an air box. I have modeled the antenna in hfss and after the simulation, the (...)
Hello, I am simulating a 2-18 GHz cavity backed spiral antenna in hfss but I am getting these warnings (mentioned below) in fast sweep when I decrease the spiral arm width to anything below 0.25 mm. I have searched alot on google and hfss guides but there is nothing on these warnings. How can i remove this warning message and what do (...)
fast sweep setup, process hf3d: Poor convergence in computing port dispersion. this is a warning i have some questions about: 1. what does it refer to? 2. what is "port dispersion"? 3. how can i control or determine the properties of this convergence? 4. to what level this error may effect my results?
HI All, I have been using hfss for a couple years bgut never have tried tuning variables in hfss, such as the length and width of a dipole. I have the newest version (12.1) but am not sure how to setup and obtain a useful tune. The Ansys guys did a demonstration of version 12 executing a tune and it seemed fast like it was being done in (...)
how to determine number of passes in solutions in hfss?
Hi all, I decided to simulate UWB antenna with hfss, Is it better to use fast or discrete? "fast" takes less time while "discrete" takes longer. To have first impression, fast can be used. for more accuracy, discrete is used. Or it's better to use CST? why? For UWB, CST takes much less time. This is due t
Hi, I simulated a design in hfss (UWB antenna). In first simulation, I use fast simulation with frequency 6.5GHz for simulating in 1 to 11 GHZ. In second simulation, I use fast simulation with frequency 11GHz for simulating in 1 to 21 GHZ. Result is very diffrent, which one is correct? why?
Hello, does somebody know which mesh type is to chose in hfss for plane structures? And if I have a radiation box which mesh type is to select for this. I have read that for round structures with surface approximation the result will meet fast the convergence criterion. And to decide whether the mesh is good the optical look is important. Is
which one is better to use in order to simulate field distribution inside an enclosure (or car)? What about EM field-human interaction?
I have not seen this one before. Anyone have a clue? My best guess is a memory overrun, but usually I see that with larger models. I can switch to interpolating sweep and it seems to run fine. Just wondering. hfssDesign1 (DrivenModal) fast sweep setup, process hf3d error: Failure in Lanczos: out of precision.. (6:53 AM Nov
Hi all, I want to simulate a dual band antenna( 2.4~2.484GHz & 5.1~5.8GHz) in hfss,How to set solution frequency of hfss?
I am trying to simulate patch fss using hfss. I dont know how to simualte. can any one help me regarding this matter
Dear all, I notice several things in hfss. Please confirm when you ever noticed the same: 1. The convergence profile/curve is not the same when change the sweep method e.g. fast sweep or interpolation. Although, all other parameters remain the same. 2. Interpolation sweep works better over a broadband frequencies. thanks.
Dear all, I ran an hfss simulation and after 7 passes, it reached my convergence criteria. However, it could not run the frequency sweep (fast sweep) due to out of memory. Is it possible to get the mesh after 6 passes? I am just wondering if using the mesh after 6 passes would help reduce the memory significantly. Would changing to interpo
I see that it's some kind of array. Are you sure hfss can do it with the memory you have? Maybe that's why it's dying unexpectedly?
I use IE3D Zeland. It's very fast end friendly for antenna analysis. You can simulated 2.5D and some 3D structures. For 3D structures you must now very good this profram. When you have very complex design,I use Ansoft hfss.
Hi! When adding a frequency sweep, in sweep window there is an option called save fields. What exactly it does? If it saves fields at different frequencies how can I access them? I always find fields at only one frequency that is at solution frequency which we give in solution setup window. Thanks in advance! Regards Tadanki
hfss can easily cope with this structure. It is expensive and takes a while to learn to operate. Polar's Si9000 impedance calculator may also be useful at a much lower price , and it is less flexible. You might get lucky and find something on the web that just suits your problem for free. Think of it this way: Good. fast. Cheap.
During my simulation of CPW-fed monopole antenna centered at 2.45Ghz, the error occured. Please experter or experienced man check it for me. What does it mean? What should I do next step? Thanks a lot! cpwfed_monopole (D:/Program Files/project/) glass_substrate fast sweep setup, process abc3d
hi everyone There is a "Computing Eigenvectors Iteration n(1-50) of 50" step in fast sweep of hfss simulation.Usually n is lower, but sometimes it is higher,so we should spend more question is which factors decide n? Kezman Best Regards
