You are right. At the basic end of things you do the most simple thing and use 2 bytes instead of 1. As a learner it is very instructive to do some binary with a pencil and paper to see how it all works. put the column weights in a row at the top and then put 16 zero's underneath. Then start some rows with ones in various places and write the
Hi I am trying to interface L3G4200D 3 axis gyroscope with pic 16F877A, using i2c bus. I tried to write the code but something is wrong in code, all I can get is -1 value. here is the code #include "D:\1\main.h" #include unsigned int x,who; #use i2c(Master,Fast,sda=PIN_C4,scl=PIN_C3) ///////////////////////////

You have to know the part number and you can use Google to search up the datasheet of that part. The datasheet will describe if it is 8-bit or 16-bit, etc. Common 8-bit series microcontrollers: pic 10, pic 12, pic 16, pic 18, ATTINY, ATMEGA, 89C51, etc Common 16-bit series microcontrollers: (...)
Hi, 1. As Arun mentioned no microcontroller will come with built-in Bluetooth support. Search for Bluetooth modules that will have SPI/I2C/UART/Parallel bus digital interface. And appropriately select the pic that can handle any of these interfaces. 2. Why 5V AC ? please be aware thaty you cannot power any of these (...)
You can use two of these RS-485 tranceivers with proper driving of the control pins !RE and DE. Yes, with some additional logic gates, if the pic TxEnable signal is available. But this point isn't clear from the initial post,

With standard pics, code can be only executed from flash program memory. Some special types have a data bus and can use external program memory.
I copied the code for can bus... from the book "Advanced pic microcontroller projects"... Dogan Ibrahim... It is compiled and gives no error in MikroC Compiler but when i simulate that program on Proteus, i get an error "Read of can Controller Register 0x0F6E(canSTAT) returns last value stored". May anyone (...)
Hi folks, I am looking for an IC that I can use to protect a data bus from the outside world so to speak. Basically the data bus is going to be connected to a possibly unstable environment and I need to protect against voltage spikes upto roughly 40V. The data bus is connected to a pic and therefore (...)

When I plug in the USB in the computer it says: "USB device not recognized... one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows..." Does everyone know the nature of this problem(hardware/softaware), where could be the issue?
I assume you know how to make an application in pic to integrate the required software module to support the corresponding hardware 1) You can interface an IR sensor to detect motion simply. Select the sensor and look through its data sheet about how to interface it with a microcontroller. 2) Camera Sensors usually support an I2C bus (...)

First, you have to convert this anaolg signal to digital signal - hex numbers - and then you can transmit these hex bytes via RS-232 link to your PC .. So, choose a pic that has build-in ADC, or use external ADC and control it with any pic microcontroller .. Attached is an example: pic controls ADC via I2C (...)
You need a tranceiver chip to convert the canRx and canTx signals from the pic to the differential can bus lines, can high and can low. A common choice is the Philips TJA1050, or Microchip do a tranceiver which is pin compatable, cant remember the part (...)

Hi ! I have to interface a pic to a 1-wire bus with 3 devices. I have just used some 1-wire devices , but I haven't used a 1-wire bus. Has anybody done a 1-wire Search ROM routine ? If it's possible , can you post me your source code ? Tnx
Hi, Simply don't do this. It will be your disaster to come. Better use RS485 with packets and current sources. Then you can use the UART on the pic. regards, Paul.
Hi, You cant use multi master on I2C. you will have to find a way to make this work. One way is have one pic acts as a master and askes every other pic if he has any information. There are other ways, but you have to find the best solution for you. On how to use the I2C go to: - Not a microchip web site. Good luck.
Using external memory will give you more memory than any pic can give you that I know of( 32K Bytes x 8 ). I don't know about the timing differences, but that you'll be able to check it out on the datasheets. Maybe you should first decide how much memory you need. Then decide on the pic you'll use. Do you really need a 40 pin (...)
As a port expander you can use parallel data transmission, and it is quite fast if you use microcontrollers which use multiplexed address/data bus such as 8051 family (with built-in control line such as RD, WR, and so on..) - 8255 the best example .. For pic, however, I would rather consider I2C bus and port expanders (...)
