The amplifier's phase and gain plot: 136626 When gain=0dB, the phase marge=72, which is stable for the unit gain bandwidth 22.7MHz. However, the phase changes a lot within the unit gain bandwidth, like a sine waveform. In this case, is it acceptable for the phase not monotonically decreasing? Thanks.
Hello friends, I have designed an UWB antenna based on a paper in HFSS. base paper and hfss file are available in the below link. i need exact replica of the VSWR plot as well as gain vs frequency plot. i have plotted them but i didnot get the exact replica of both results....please give your (...)
Hi all.. after simulating my antenna in IE3D, i fabricate it and measured using VNA, In my results they are given me gain vs frequency value in excel sheet, i just want to know how to plot Axial ration bandiwdth plot using that reading.. plz reply
Hi I would like to have the antenna gains in dBi in hfss. When I plot the antenna pattern with 3D polar plot in far fields, I get the values in dB. I would like to convert those values to have them in dBi but I don't see any option for that. How could I do that? Thank you
Folks, I'd like to be able to pull out the peak gain along a specific phi cut. That is, along a \phi_0, I'd like the \theta corresponding to the maximum gain. Any ideas on how to do that aside from plotting a rectangular plot of the E_{total} along \phi_0, loading that into MATLAB, and doing this? T
As shown in the bellowing figure, I plot the intrinsic gain of three nmos transistor with 180nm process. The Vds of the three transistors are set to 0.75V, and then I sweep the Vgs voltage of all of them from 0 to 1.5V. (The Y-aix is the intrinsic gain, and the X-aix is the Vgs.) Their size are 5/0.5, 5/0.5, and 50/10, with the um unit. (...)
Hi, In the "compute antenna parameter" module, the gain is in linear value. so you have to take 10 log(gain). In a 3D polar plot, it's you that define the representation of the gain, dB value, linear value ... If you have choose dB and if the result is 1.5e+001 for the red area, the gain is 15 dBi. The red (...)
Hi, I would like to know on HFSS when we click on compute antenna/max parameters to find the maximum gain of a design, we can see a peak gain value which is not in dB. I would like to know if we have to do 10 log(Peak gain) to get the maximum gain value in dB? Also, I would like to know for the 3D polar (...)
Hello, I am running cadence virtuoso 6.1.5 and trying to sort out the monte carlo analysis for process variation and mismatch. Hi Can anybody help me to make plot of phase of Antennas' Radiation Pattern in HFSS? in CST Studio software, Farfield results, plot "theta phase" and "phi phase" of realized gain of Antenna pattern. How we can plot phase pf pattern in HFSS like CST? Thanks
1) select a device according to operating frequency, gain, supply voltage, power and etc. 2) plot DC characteristics and determine DC operating by using Prms = Vds x Ids. Prms is RF output power. 3) do impedance matching for the PA using commercially available matching tools (e.g ADS and etc). make sure the matching network within the Qmax circle.
The gain plot is attached. It is a microstrip patch antenna. It has a wide impedance bandwidth between 2 and 5 GHz but its gain at broadside is negative very much throughout the bandwidth. I believe the low gain may be due to substrate edge diffraction. In which application can I use an antenna with such a (...)
I have to verify the results of a differential microstrip patch antenna of a research journal for my college project. The antenna consists of dual patches which are electromagnetically coupled (Antenna design attached). The simulated VSWR and gain plot are attached along with the simulated results of the paper. As you can see I am not getting
I have designed a 10 element LPDA and I want to achieve around 6-7dB of gain but I am getting an issue with the gain plot (see attached). It looks like there is some null on the PHI axis. I am feeding the antenna with a coaxial line and a lumped port at the end. I honestly have no idea why it is doing that... Hope someone on here can shed (...)
I was testing some low-cost eBay switching power adapters and saw all had sloppy performance on step load testing. I opened it up and decided to test the gain/phase response at 500 mA. Below is the plots from the FRA used. Looking at the first plot it can be seen why the response is so bad. On further investigation, it appears (...)
Whenever I use LTspice to make a plot of frequency response of a filter the signal generator always says "AC1" which is its AC reference amplitude. The actual amplitude in volts does not matter because the output level is compared to the input level with the difference in decibels.
the phase magnitude plot doesn't seem to indicate a stability problem (see attached images). To say so with some reason, you would have performed the AC analysis with a parametric sweep of output current set point. Did you? The problem is that transistor gm varies with drain current, loop gain does respectively. In addition, larg
Adding some phase boost (bottom left plot) seems to help quiet it down with no or light loads. - - - Updated - - - If the gain is restored that was lost by the added phase boost, the response looks nice and snappy! - - - Updated - - - Zoomed view of output tra
E-plane corresponds to φ = 0° & H-plane corresponds to φ = 90° Each axis in 3D has an angle. To plot, one sweeps one angle while incrementing the other at 90 deg. This assumes one axis is symmetrical.
I kinda find it hard to design an EMI filter for my microinverter (output is 60Hz at 360Vac). I already have the values for my inductor but then I cant find the correct values of capacitor. I used the 1/2pi(LC)^1/2 formula but then there are surges at different frequencies, the highest gain in my bode plot is around 50db which I believe is not acce
Hi everyone, I am characterizing a Field effect transistor with a verilog A model using spectre. I want to plot gmro (intrinsic gain) vs vds. But the problem is that, the model does not store gm or gds values in dc operating points. Is there any test bench from which I can extract gmro vs vds plot without actually getting gm and gds (...)
May I know how to plot the transimpedance gain(Vout/Iin) versus frequency in bode plot using Virtuoso Waveform Calculator? Thank you so much for your help.
Hello All, Can you please help me in obtaining an antenna gain pattern. After selecting the Creating Far Field plot --> Rectangular plot --> Category (gain). What are the other things that i should determine to get gain vs. Frequency pattern? Thank you Kawther There is not going to be any (...)
I have a beamformed output, say y = weights * signal, where the signal is gaussian,i.e signal = randn( 1 , 1e5 ). Now I want to visualise the output in angular domain, i.e I want to plot the gain of the resulting signal y as a function of elevation angles. I am considering the mainlobe of 'signal' to be pointing in (0 azimuth,0elevation).
Hello All, Salam I built a printed monopole antenna structure using the HFSS. I did the simulation. I could find the 2D far field radiation pattern. When i asked for the 3D polar plot for the far field radiation, HFSS gave me an empty result. Do you have any idea? Thanks Kawther Hamad
i have designed an antenna and viewed its gain plot by using HFSS software but i'm getting high gain not at desired operating frequency, i think this is because of impedance mismatch problem, could someone please help me regarding this of getting high gain at desired operating frequency. Thanks in advance.
As my attached picture, if we have negative feedback system, we should make unity gain be within -180 phase not to oscillate our system, considering the number of pole in amp. And I think, upper unity gain frequency, my Aol(in the picture) already has -180 phase because amp has negative gain. so without considering the number of pole (...)

One problem is, for a circuit of some complexity, the parasitics are distributed and can combine in many ways (in the same circuit). You can have shunt and feedforward, in various places and proportions. A single-pole or few-pole, or few-poles-plus-zeroes, might be discernible in the details from a gain/phase vs frequency plot (if you have the sch
After specs, and you determine the order of filtering outside the BPF, then you know the minimum number of reactive elements as f increases past resonance. The series & shunt L's negate each other past resonance. Examine your source and model it more accurately, then verify it with a fixed R load. Next time choose log for both axes and plot gain
Dear all, Can anyone show me that how to plot antenna gain vs. frequency when using CST frequency domain solver? Thank you (...)
Hi, I used a anechoic chamber to rotate a transmitting antenna from 0 to 360 with 2 degrees in between. I received gain at every two degrees for my antenna. For example at 2 deg I received -64dB and so on for each degree. I am able to view the radiation pattern on the analyzer, but I want to be able to plot it onto Matlab, so that I can put i
I had the same problem recently for plotting antenna gain vs angle degree ^^. The problem is that matlab polar plot doesnt work with negative values - it starts from 0. You have to either add offset equall to -min value, or try google at matlab forum, someone posted there some script that modified orginal polar function so it works for (...)
The circuit is designed as 2nd order Multiple feedback active cmos filter, I am not sure to check -3dB BW by considering Loop gain or Closed loop gain plot.

the transfer function we are talking about is "THE OPEN LOOP TRANSFER FUNCTION". I.e. the PLL is actually broken so there is no feedback. You can simulate this OPEN LOOP transfer function, plot the gain and phase on a BODE plot, and where the open loop gain crosses 1 ( i.e.0 dB), your phase had better be no closer than 45 (...)
Hi For your first question, What do you exactly mean by DC characteristic simulation? And for which characteristic you are taking the derivative. Which sources are you using to calculate gain.? Please clarify this.. Second question: According to my point of view DC gain is the same as AC gain which is for zero frequency. And the (...)

Hi All, I have designed a LDO, with low loop gain~100dB. In light load, there is only one single pole within UGF, and PM is around 90 degree. However, when I used an AC signal in VCC and use AC simulation in Vout to plot PSR, its low frequency gain is only -30dB. I have read some of the treads in this forum in discussing the relationship (...)

Hello Everybody, I am having a very weird problem in HFSS generated radiation pattern. I am using HFSS 15. It was all good when I designed it. The design resulted in a very good gain and excellent radiation pattern. The problem started when I recently changed my workstation/computer/machine (whatever you want to call it). Now the same project (i
