Hi All, I set up a circuit to check sp analysis in cadence. I m having 2 ports with one port has 50 ohm and another port has 100ohm. I connected these two ports together.While I am doing SP analysis, I got the following results. s11 = s22--> 333.33m S12=S21 --> 942.809m

s22 looks much worse than s11 on top of the S21 mentioned by FvM. I would be very suspicious of something on the output (assuming your line is good 50ohms for 10GHz).

Your s11 is also too bad.. But your circuit has no impedance matching network ? How it will be improved ?? Check the intrinsic input and output impedances of the CasCode only first then apply proper matching networks to match to source and load.

It's possible that your circuit oscillates at around 75 GHz and in Transient simulation the circuit's performance is affected by this oscillation. Check your current and voltages and check for beginning s11 and s22 if their magnitudes become positive at around 75 GHz.

In ADS you can plot final return losses s11 or s22 on smith chart ,but not the contour as you do by hand. To study, you add matching sections one by one and see how marker moves as you go along and moves towards the center of chart ,the 50 ohm point.

You have be a little more specific. s11 and s22 are just input and output impedances. Magnitude plots of each would be return loss. This is how close the impedance is to the S parameter transmission line impedance. -20 db return loss is a close impedance match. It represents a small circle at radius = 0.1 around the center of a Smith chart.
