Nothing matlab specific but there is a section on nonorthogonal unstructured grids in taflove (at least the third edition). Two things to keep in mind though 1) unstructured grids are much slower than rectangular grids (no easy looping) 2) The accuracy of triangular grids in particular is low (high numerical dispersion)
CPML is better than UPML because CPML can treats dispersive case. Moreover, the codes are also clearly stated in taflove's book. Please refer to CHAPTER 7

taflove's Book delivers matlab files for 1D, 2D and 3D the codes are easy to learn Try to search under FDTD+taflove regards

Hi, I have tried to write a matlab code based on TF/SF method 2D FDTD with Berenger's PML. I calculated the fields building a look-up table specified in taflove's book. I faced three problems when I run the simulation; 1) There are a lot of reflections (10% of the magnitude of incident field) in the computation space when there is no scatterer.
Hi Boomerang, here is the matlab code from the book from A. taflove 2nd Ed. 2000 For the first steps with FDTD I suggest the book from D. Sullivan; there you find also some code examples, that can be easily adapted for matlab. Hope this helps. best: Ricy

I have tried to implement the UPML ABC for FDTD in matlab, by following the textbook written by Allen taflove. but I still have trouble to get it going. Does anyone has a sample FDTD code using UPML so that I can have a good look at it? Thanks
Hi all, Here I am attaching the matlab codes for all three scenarios ( 1D , 2 D,3D FDTD ) with PML for 2 cases and a simple radiation ABC for 1 D case.The codes are from the book on FDTD by taflove and Hagness which I bought recently.They are heavily commented. -svarun
