Folks, I'd like to be able to pull out the peak gain along a specific phi cut. That is, along a \phi_0, I'd like the \theta corresponding to the maximum gain. Any ideas on how to do that aside from plotting a rectangular plot of the E_{total} along \phi_0, loading that into MATLAB, and doing this? T
Hi Can anybody help me to make plot of phase of Antennas' Radiation Pattern in hfss? in CST Studio software, Farfield results, plot "theta phase" and "phi phase" of realized gain of Antenna pattern. How we can plot phase pf pattern in hfss like CST? Thanks
i have created an array with 4 elements. The pattern in matlab is great. 127214 i designed same array on hfss, the result is awful but it looks similar. There are some symmetry problems along y axis. Radiation pattern on phi plane (at theta=90) is not same as matlab. i must figure it out What can be the problem? ple
Hello, I have two antenna and i would like to visualize the gain of this antenna, so i m find that in hfss, it have two curves: the gain phi and gain theta in hfss, Can someone explain me the difference betwenn the two angles Thanks in advance
What do you mean by calculation of phi and theta values ? Basically radiation pattern in hfss is phi or theta variation of Field Magnitude for constant theta or phi value respectively. So you can use marker to get desired value of field magnitude at specific (...)
First go to Radiation in Project Manager. Right click, insert far field setup, Infinite sphere, set theta and phi as start:0, Stop:360. Step Size:1. Now right click on Results, Create Far Field Report, 3D Polar Plot, select trace tab, Category = Gain, Quantity = gain total, Function = none. Then click New Report. WAHLA!!! ;-)
From searching and brainstorming I came up with Vertical polarization = theta polarization Horizontal polarization = phi Polarization (Correct me if I'm wrong) In my design my antenna is facing in X direction like in the picture 117293 I am using hfss. For getting the vertical and horizontal polarization I am defin
Angle of phi what will change? does it change the polarization angles? Angle of theta what will change?does it change the incident angles? If number of modes in floquet port be 1 what happens? For define in the design, TEM mode what i should do?
Hi, everyone I am now using hfss version 13 to calculate S11 and S21 of a metamaterial absorber. wave ports and PEC/PMC B.C. are set up in the simulation. For the wave port, the plane wave incident angle is zero in default, but I want to use an oblique incidence(for example theta or phi=10 deg). What should I do to realize oblique (...)
Help please! I am simulating radar cross sections in hfss but I am a bit confused. It seems in theory that monostatic RCS and Bistatic RCS at theta=0, phi=0 with the same excitation should be the same. When for example, I simulate a 1 cm radius conducting sphere at 10 GHz I get -34.25 dB for Monostatic and -27.76 dB for bistatic at (...)
I am Using hfss 9.2 This is my 3D radiation pattern 107923 Hence I expect figure of 8 in XZ plane and circle in XY plane for x plane i followed the steps as shown in below pictures. 107924 107925 107926 But not getting proper result..
Hi to all; I am using the floquet-port with master-slave boundaries but the confusion that i am facing is how to check angle of incident wave at the floquet port. While i follow this procedure Slave->Phase-delay-> phi & theta and have change the values in the phase-delay in slave boundaries where i use phi (Φ) as constant=0 and th

I do not know how to plot E and H plane radiation pattern separately in hfssv11..... I have searched internet and found that (In proj. manager->radiation->farfield->infinite sphere-> vary phi from 0 to 90 deg, stepsize 90 and vary theta from 0 to 360 deg. step size 3 to 10. Second Step: After simulation, Go to Results->create (...)
Hello, i need to change the range of the sweeps. Make theta range 0 to 180 instead of -180 to 180 and phi 0 to 360 instead of 0 to 180. I know its the same calculation but it matters to me for the exported data. Anybody know how i can do this? Thank you a lot! - - - Updated - - - the answer is to set u
Check the range of theta and phi in your Farfield setup (in the Radiation sphere dialog box) You have not used the full range of phi values.
Create a new 'Far fields report' in hfss with the trace of Axial ratio. It is one of the categories directly available after simulating in hfss. Set your Primary sweep to frequency and in the 'Families' tab, set your theta and phi to whatever value you want. A sample specification is shown
hello i have being study hfss these days.but i cant get the ideal of gainphi and gaintheta in hfss. i had found them in the function of help of doesnot help me
I'L take u have done a frequency sweep simulation for ur structure..!! Since u said Gain, I'L take it is an antenna u r trying to simulate ..!! Have u defined an Infinite sphere before u plot ?? If not do it, den u need to fix theta and select all phi, or fix a phi and select all theta according to the requirement of ur plot (...)
Any one able to correct this setup of metamaterial unit cell with periodic boundary condition and floquet port. What should be the size of the airbox. And what should be the orientation of unit cell. And What should be the criteria to choose the scan angles for phi and theta. And How we can run metamaterial unit cell with periodic boundary simulati
what do you understand by gainLX plot? are you doing the sweep analysis while plotting the curves with frequency for set theta and phi?
In "Results" --> "Create Far Fields Report" --> "Radiation Pattern" you have do change the "Primary Sweep" from theta (V) to phi (H).
how to see the E & H plane polarization in co & cross polarization in hfss v11? what are steps for that ? wt r the values of theta and phi to see this polarization? Thanking you in anticipation

Some of my colleagues had done some designs of FSS in hfss. I think the theta and phi are to define the angle of incidence wave. The response of FSS would be different with different incidence angle.
Hi, At hfss Results - What is the difference between Gain Total at phi=90deg to Gain theta at phi=90deg and Gain phi at phi=90deg ? And at 3D Polar Plot - What is the difference between rE to Gain Total ? it is look that only the Gain Total is useful .
hello i have simulated a ultra bandwidth antenna but i m confused to calculates its gain. i did this hfss>results> create far field reports>rectangular plot then a small windows arrives in solution> sweep>trace> primary sweep>freq> all then catagory>gain>quanitity>total gain>function>db then in families > theta = 360 and phi =0 then > (...)

it dont have circular polarization and about vertical and horizontal u can check by polarization in phi and theta
Hi, everyone. I have a problem here. I made a series of cavities and did some measurement. I heard that if I import the import the measured power data(theta, phi) into hfss, he can plot the 3d pattern for me. Also, he can compute the directivity based on this. Is it true? Can anybody tell me how to achieve this? Thanks a lot.
Hello, Please anyone suggest me how to see gain in dBi unit using hfss v.10. I am trying to see the peak gain over a frequency sweep, with phi=0 & theta=0. From Antenna Params -> Peak gain ->dB, is that ok? (I did not see any option as dBi or dBd). What's the exact procedure or am I confused somewhere....anybody pls help!!
Calm down. As the others wrote, it must be something trivial. Why don't you check your integration area (sweep range for theta and phi) for the radiated field? It's very likely that you sampled the same angles multiple times.
Can you create a far-field plot as a 3D Polar plot? Select all phi & theta values (this should be the standard for far-field plots) and in the Y tab select GainTotal.
hi it possible plotting far field in function of sin(theta)cos(phi) and sin(theta)sin(phi) instead of theta and phi?

hello i simulate a dipole with ansoft... i have no clue in gaining the gain of the dipole the gain of a dipole should be in dBi or dBd why in ansoft don't have that function... if i used the gain in dB... theta dB(GainTotal) phi=0deg, Freq=2.45GHz Setup1 : LastAdaptive 0.000000 -49.705968 10.000000 -17.685690 20.00000
You need to create & setup Far fields ( theta & phi ) first. Check hfss tutorials for details.
Hi fcolleon firstly select insert near filed setup in the radiation tree and then select sphere secondly after simulation in the results select near filed data and in the results page you can select any plan you want by its theta and phi(fixed theta or fixed phi) I hope it'll be helpful
hi yes i agree with Abhishekabs. for xy plane pattern you need to fix theta=90 and vary the phi angle throughout the 360 degrees. i hope it works regards

what is theta and phi? If those are the locations around the antenna/network, there is no relation with S11, Z etc.
How can i export the theta and phi in hfss through VBscript, i.e not directly control in hfss. i need to control it through vbscript, do anyone can help me?
Hi can anyone plz help me..... how to design plot of xy-plane, xz-plane and yz-plane radiation patterns for copolarization (E hfss thank you
rEtotal will give you total radiated E field . any far feild component can be divided into 3 sperical cordinate axis theta , phi and r. usually far field have no r component but have E theta and H phi or such things . here rEtotal then might be total radiated E field resultant of E phi and E theta
