Hello, please can some one provide me with matlab code of 1D and 3d with TF/SF formulation. msaoud47@gmail.com thanks for all
scattered fields are not available if you used a wave port. You could create a model (equation) for the incident wave, and subtract this from the total.
Does anyone know how to compute the absorption cross section for a lossy material? I have already determined how to collect the scattered field by placing monitors outside of the total field scattered field (TFSF) Boundary. I know that the (...)
I'm having some interesting effects after the plane wave has exited the TFSF. Although the response drops by 2 order of magnitude, there are pockets of Electric field that stay stationary on the left and right sides of the TFSF box. Is there any way around this problem? Or is this just a consequence of using TFSF and a plane wave? I have also ha
Suppose you have a 3D system utilizing a total field - scattered field boundary with a plane wave injection and a lossy dielectric sphere in the center of the simulation box. After the plane wave is injected and interacts with the dielectric sphere, scattered electric and (...)
Currently, I have a working 3D FDTD code with the total field/scattered field formulation. I am using a 3D plane wave constrained to propagate in one direction. However, I get severe leakage/reflections at the TFSF box edges (most likely a bounds issue, but I cannot figure out where I'm (...)
hi all, I have simulate 2d fdtd with total field scattered field + PML, but I have detected some serious leakage at the end of scattered field where i=ilast, j=jlast. Can anyone explain to me why is this happened? 103781
Hi violetcrow, I encounter this often in my field of work. There are a couple of options: a) Use an incident plane wave excitation - you can then examine the total fields and scattered fields independently. b) Remove a very small rectangle from the (...)
We recently published a paper that describes a very simple and powerful technique for implementing total-field/scattered-field sources in the finite-difference frequency-domain method. The paper also serves as a brief tutorial of the method. The paper is open access and freely available: (...)
Hi, I try to use Sin-Cosine method on Taflove's book to implement PBC with a plane wave excitation by TF/SF method. But the result seems to be failed! 1. I wonder that if iterating the PBC on the total-field is correct, or else on the scattered-field? 2. Do you guys know how to (...)
With the TFSF formulation available for FDTD why are people still contemplating NTFF solutions of analytical Far field formulations in general. I am not sure what you mean by "analytical Far field formulations". But I often use TFSF and NTFF together. TFSF = total field (...)
Can you jus tell me how the coding for evaluating this, REAL PART OF closed integral(sphere) 1/2∫E x H* ds WHERE E and H are scattered field values. Also how to to calculate the total and incident field (both electric and magnetic) from FEKO so that I can use these two (...)
use the total field /scattered field for directional sourse
Dear all, The code in Sullivan's book is for total/scattered field formulation for a plane wave aligned with the grid. My question is: how do I create a plane wave which is not aligned with the grid? Can the incident array still be used? How? Any sample code (for 2D case)? Or at least a pseudocode.. Please help. (...)
Wow that is a big question! 99% of the time, there are two main sources used. I describe them briefly below. total-field/scattered-field ================ This is essentially a one-way source injected at one plane in your grid. It can be either a plane wave or something else. It (...)
in case of open-ended waveguide structure, i.e. we using the tf-sf technique to simulate the forward waveguide mode source, but one end of waveguide structure is both in the scattered field zone and total field zone, how to deal the incident field in this (...)
You can change from scattered to total field if you go to HFSS->fields->Edit Sources. This is useful if you want to study the reflection or the transmission. If you have more problems, please post your hfss cylinder, and I will have a look to it. Bye, Pere
Hi all, The total field scattered field (TFSF) FDTD (3D) code written by Prof John Schneider is attached here for those who are interested. Mur First Order ABC is used in this code for domain termination. Refer chapter 10 of his course notes for a better understanding of the code. (...)
hi! i've been doing FDTD for symmetric bodies(Body of revolution/BOR FDTD) but i have a problem introducing a PLANE WAVE using the totalfield-scatteredfield formulation. can anyone help me with this?
2D FDTD plane wave incidence by total field and scattered field formulation The PML ABC implemented. The program was coded with Visual C++ 6.0 the results can be shown by executing matlab m-files included in zip files. I thing there's no error and shows perfect ?? performance. (...)
Why do you have to use FDTD? Have you considered a beam propagation method (BPM)? These are very popular for nonlinear optics simulations and they are easier to implement. I am not sure of your exact application, but you will likely want to implement your source using the (...)
I am looking for some 3D FDTD code using Plane Wave Excitation with total/scattered field Formulation. Thanks.
