doubt is why we want to measure the radiation pattern while simulating the antenna in hfss, and what is the purpose of measuring vswr in antenna design ,is there is any coorelation between the vswr and return loss. 2.correlate the vswr, radiation pattern definition in detail with hfss software 3.for what via is used in (...)
hi, How I convert mV to vswr ? thanks Much better in dB and calibration easiest as well. For instance load 6dB it is -12dB matching and so on.
Hi all, I designed a PCB dipole with balun on it, the vswr is measured well and bandwidth is ok. I don't know how about the performance of unbalance to balance, anything to measure ? thanks.
the metod described by you is traditional method. currently vswr meter can give direct reading due to automation. the circuit has two detectors, highly directional coupler and selection switch with controller and indicator.
Pout is relative low, why that big attenuator then? 20dB attenuation => 20 dB reduced dynamic range of VNA. How much power can your VNA handle? measure TX impedance requires that the chip can be set in CW mode, I assume? Measuring vswr of antenna do not result in impedance values? What type of VNA do you use? measured TX out power level can (...)
Interference power from 30MHz to 300MHz on mains lead, measured by means of the absorbing clamp, is provided in CISPR 14-1: Requirements for household appliances, electric tools and similar apparatus. Is this related to measure of power in cable act as transmission line or measure of vswr ? Can someone explain the theory (...)
I wouldn't go crazy with the cable. I would pick one with fairly good vswr, so there is not too much ripple vs. frequency. A scalar can not readily correct the fast ripples, as they can change depending on what you are trying to measure, and if they chage your scalar calibration is no longer going to correct for the ripples. But there is no
Resonance of the antenna doesn't have anything with the matching network, which is necessarily only to get maximum power transfer and good vswr. Usually to match a helical antenna, 3 lumped components in the matching network are more than enough to get good vswr. Try to measure first the antenna impedance using the VNA, and using a Smith (...)
Anybody please let me know the laboraory process of determining vswr??If you have any ebook or papers regarding he same plz pass i on o me at rahul.6sep@gmail.com Regards, Rahul
If you don’t have a Network Analyzer you can measure the vswr (and Return Loss) using a signal generator, a directive coupler, a detector (or a spectrum analyzer), and a matched load. Γ=(vswr-1)/(vswr+1) RL=-20*LOG(Γ) In this way you measure only the real part of the impedance.
i want to make a device that can measure the vswr, return loss and other characteristics of an antenna. you may say i want to make one port network anlayzer. what could be the mechanism. I 'll be very thankful for your help
Hmmmm. Sounds like you do not understand what vswr actually is. It sounds like you have one of those old style SWR meters. vswr is Voltage Standing Wave Ratio. To actually see a vswr you need four things: 1) an RF signal source 2) a coaxial cable with some sort of mechanism to allow access to the center conductor at various lengths (...)
It is nothing related to vswr. Regarding the same amout of energy is delivered to the antenna, part of the energy is radiated, the other part of energy is dissipated due to resistive load and surface wave. If you are using HFSS, you can get the radiation efficency directly. How to measure efficiency on PCB antenna designed for ISM ban
I'd like to design connector to coaxial cable and measure vswr (impedance mismatch) in HFSS. I don't know how to set boundaries and excitations. Can you help me? Please take a look on attachment.
How to protect power amplifier against high vswr?
hi. I want to design antenna as resonator . But how to find the Q factor from antenna. ( using CST or HFSS). Q is equal to fcenter/bandwith. How to calculate bandwith from CST ( can I use the S parameter , and calculate the bandwith from -10dB -or vswr 2:1) Thank you for your help From S11 measure - you matching Fc to best po
I am looking for any good references/papers for transmission line behavior in a high vswr (i.e. >30) environment. Is any body aware of any? I am especially interested in how to measure cable insertion loss in high vswr. Thanks in advance.
vswr is just a way to look at the mismatch. It is widely used years ago when mostly a slotted line was used for impedance matching. With slotted line you can easilly measure voltages along the line and calculate vswr.
Hi star22 If you can connect Directional coupler. you can measure with low power Instruments in one port the Tx power and the second port the reflected power (vswr=reflect/Tx). Don't forget to add the coupling. PL
In your topic-name you said Spectrum Analyzer, and after this you said Network Analyzer. You can use both devices to tune the antenna. Using the Network Analyzer you can measure the Return Loss (or vswr) and Antenna Gain. Using the Spectrum Analyzer you can measure the Antenna Gain, but your setup needs also o Signal Generator. For (...)
Actually I think that you are looking to measure ruggedness of the PA under different vswr’s. For this you can use a simple line-stretcher (or tuning stub, whatever you want to name it). You have to calibrate this device, at one frequency (mid band), and one Phase (0 degrees) using the Network Analyzer, and record the vswr (1:1, 2:1, (...)
I want to know about vswr. Anyone help me.
In these days everybody is trying to avoid isolators in CDMA-IS95, CDMA2000 or WCDMA. Now the technology allows to design PA’s which pass the ACPR spec under bad vswr. Before to eliminate the isolator from your design, you have to measure the ACPR of your PA under bad vswr (usually 4:1). Post PA loss in a CDMA phone (3 to 4 dB) it (...)
Hi friends :) I was getting tired to calculate impedance bandwidth in CST MWS using the measure lines in vswr plot of MWS and a I wrote this macro in order to save some time... It works well for the current project I'm working on... Feel free to try it out and test it on your antenna projects... Any comments are welcome :)
The reason of your question is probably one of the four parameters of the coupler: - Directivity or Isolation - vswr - Coupling coefficient - Insertion loss Directivity is a measure of how well a coupler can isolate two signals. Directivity, therefore, sets the limits on how accurately a coupler can perform a specific measurement. (...)
