Hi, I am using lipo battery 3.7v and want to drive a circuit which works at 3.3v. My battery voltage can be in between 4.2v to 3v. So I selected TPS61201 buck boost regulator. Is it a good choice ? My circuit current consumption in idle mode will be around 10 mA and some time it goes to 150 mA for few seconds and again comes down to 8 to 10mA.

Dear All How can we derive the equation for output ripple voltage in a Buck boost Converter for Discontinuous Conduction Mode using the area under the diode current waveform and the average current.
although PFM is comparator based. Each block in the whole regulation loop has its own time delay. that could translate into phase shift. but. why we usually are not concerned about the its compensation. for example,for a system, the clock is running around 10uS. The comparator could easily eat up 1uS.

Thank you for the answer. I don't use any output filter in order to keep bandwidth capability of the boost converter, tha's why I need to optimize the output ripple according to L & C values.

The output ripple seems to be triangular, as expected, but with impulse noise present. This noise should be removed because it will cause trouble everywhere in the circuits that are powered by the boost. This probably comes from the turn-on/turn-off of the transistor, a snubber could be of some use. Good luck, cyberblak
I assume that you are using smoothing capacitor between the bridge and your boost converter, so your input unregulated voltage will be roughly 1.4 * AC (rms) voltage before the bridge, and that value (-x% ripple) you can use in transistor calculations .. Regards, IanP
