Hello,i would like to have the two orthoghonal modes TE10 TE01 and shift them 90 degrees to create circular polarization in the cst menu i can only choose the number of modes but i cant know which modes specificly will be generated.I can choose the polarization angle so by choosing two ports and 90 degree polarization i will only get two ortho

If you really want to learn about the micro-strip patch antenna then pick any IEEE paper and try to learn how to design the same on cst or HFSS. I suggest this is the best way to gain knowledge. There are number of post, blogs and videos available online on how to design microstrip antenna.
Hi every one, I am simulating a horn antenna with a wave port with two orthogonal modes (to get circular polarization), the combine option in Post processing tab is not available for me. it gives me this warning:At least one propagating mode is not considered at port 1. High axial ratio means linear polarization, low axial ratio means circular, but you can not tell which one is it (horizontal or vertical, RHCP or LHCP). HFSS can plot all these automatically, most probably also cst, just find it out.

So far - we appear to have struck out on this one. Whether it be HFSS, or cst, or any other, if there is a general approach on how to get a circular polarized wave going inside a waveguide (vacuum) cut out of a universe of PEC conductor, using ports..whatever, it would be nice to discover.
