Hi cenzic, I don't use cst, but as for your second question, a general rule of thumb is that you want the ports at least 1/4 wavelength away from the surface.

Hi Prakash, I've stopped using HFSS and going for cst now. The transient solver in cst is much quicker since it operates in the time domain + the environment is much more user friendly. I'm still struggling to get used to it, I suggest you do the same and give it a try.

Calculate it's input impedance. cst calculates the input return loss (S11) . This contains the input impedance information. I am not a cst user, but other EM simulators aloow you to plot the real / imag part of the input impedance (Zin) also. This data/plot should be available in cst as well.

Probably you can use just the 'Probe'-elements placed in particular order on the surface of the Sphere? That should be possible in cst. Alternatively you can use macro 'Extract Fields in UDF points', where UDF is 'user Defined Points'.
