Hi I read a paper in which exact structure of a fat dipole microstrip antenna is described. My question is about the feeding structure. Is it necessary to set up for example a coaxial feed and its entrance as input port or we can draw port right at the antenna? Is there any difference between ADS, CST, HFSS in this regard? Most of the balun types i have come across are not suitable for my design i.e a UHF dipole antenna for a nanosatellite. Surface mount transformer baluns have insertion loss and reflection which is normally acceptable but due to lack of power on the satellite we cant afford the loss. but these baluns are all wideband which is why they show bad perfo
Hello, I am building a 2.4 GHz Yagi-Uda directional antenna for Wifi. I use a RG-58/U coaxial cable with 50 Ohm. I use the Yagi calculator of VK5DJ as a guide: The folded dipole has an impedance of 288 Ohm. The transmission line has an impedance of 50 Ohm. The impedances do not match, so impedance matching is
A monopole antenna is inherently an unbalanced antenna, so it it usually easy to connect a coaxial feed - but we take it step by step. Imagine first a horizontal ground-plane The "pure" monopole looks like one half of a dipole, stood vertically, and driven by a source at the base, between the end of the monopole, and the ground-plane. Now
Hi guys , I am trying to resonate a printed dipole antenna at 2.2 GHz. I am using coaxial cable to feed it from the bottom. Outer conductor of the coaxial cable is attached to the ground and the inner conductor is hitting the dipole antenna on the top of substrate. My problem is that antenna is not resonating at all. Hi all, I wanted to feed the dipole patch antenna with the wave port(the figure of the antenna is below), but I don't know how to do that. I know how to feed it with lumped port. However, I'm willing to know the input impedance of the proposed antenna. Thanks all (I have hiden the substrate, and GND doesn't exist) 97285[
Hi, I am doing a small project of monopole and dipole antennas used in mobile devices. Here, the antennas (made of metal with thickness 0.3 mm) were placed on the inner layer of the mobile casing (casing is made of plastic) and is soldered from the device PCB 50ohm trace using coaxial cable to antenna feeding point. The design is working good in si
Is it possible to look at the antenna and tell if its a dipole or monopole antenna? If so,how?Pls see the attached pic and answer.83915
Hello , I have create a dipole antenna using cst MWS but with a antenna wire template , i have put the port but i want to put a coaxial cable as feed transmissin line because i want to see the real result for the simulation. Anyone can help in creating the coaxial cable ? It's truly urgent !! Hope that this post will help
hi all... i make dipole antenna for ft-1900 fm transceiver but my question is there a big problem of using 75 ohm coaxial cable for antenna? thanks...
I'm trying to match a folded dipole to 50 Ohms using a 4:1 balun. The problem is a folded dipole is not exactly 200 Ohms, so a 4:1 balun does not result in a very good return loss. I believe there may be some trick that can be played by having the length of the balun a bit less than lambda/2, to compensate for the fact the antenna is not 200 Oh
Hello, You can only do this if your EM simulator accepts 3D dielectrics, as the dielectric in the coaxial cable is different from that of air. You may that a coaxial cable has two independent circuits: the differential mode circuit and the common mode circuit. The DM mode circuit is the current in the center conductor and a same but oppo
Hi I have designed a 4 elements dipole antenna array at 10GHz..But the problem is that i'm unable to test them as in our university the facility is available to check the radiation pattern and VSWR of single antenna. How can i check the combined radiation pattern and VSWR of whole array???? Would 4 to 1 way power combiner will work?????? There

Hello everyone, I'd like to model a coaxial feed for a dipole in FEKO. The dipole is part of a Yagi antenna with a metal boom, so using a wire source between dipole feed gaps (the dipole is modeled with cylinders) inside the metal boom is causing problems. I'd imagine a coax feed would fix this. How (...)
Hi Any one know, how to feed dipole antenna to get UHF TV. I have designed dipole antenna according to Balanis Antenna theory book. I have used 75 ohms coaxial where centre feed is connected to one arm and outer conductor is connected to other arm to make sure balanced. Is any body know how we can connect SMA connector to make balun (...)
hello hntko There are two issues in your project which may cause this strange result. 1. out suface of coaxial line should be set to PEC. It is missed in your design. 2. radaiton boudary. requirement of wavelength/4. For simple, you may choose lump port. I will upload three files for you later. 1.Mode in 'dipole_lumpot' using a simple lump po
Hi..can anyone guide me to draw the Teflon dielectric attachment showed in the attachment file? What is the reason of drawing in such way? TIA, greatly appreciated!!:D By the way, I need to simluate it as a quarter coaxial balun with a half wavelength dipole.
Make a rectangle connecting/touching the two dipoles and assign a lumped port to it with an integration line.
hello i am new to the transmission lines. could any one tell me how i can connect a dipole antenna to the FM radio.i mean, i want to put the antenna on the terrace. which cable(75ohm or 50ohm) should i use. my reciever is an old NATIONAL PANASONIC TAPE RECORDER, with AM/FM/SW1/SW2 has a whip.but, it has a provision for dipol
