Dear Friends: My friend has a problem in sending his problem. I sent it on-behalf of him. He is working on pulse propagation in optical fiber. He needs to simulate the Non-linear Schrodinger Equation by using fdtd (Finite Difference Time Domain) method. Can anybody help him. He needs to do this in MATLAB Could any one help him? Best regards

Hi, I am just wondering how I can observe the optical property in the focal region using the fdtd method because I don't know what's the focusing plane in the calculating area. If a point source is a stimulus, what's the code for this case? I saw a plane wave is always used for the simulation. Thanks!
Do you have any idea about simulator which can cover both optical and electrical domain Any reasonable fdtd program should do. The only widely available commercial fdtd program I have used - Quickwave - certainly should be capable. I can and do run both types of simulations with my own fdtd program without any problems.

So my answer to the linear/nonlinear question is no: HFSS can not be used for the simulation of nonlinear electromagnetic phenomena (like those involved in nonlinear optics). Here is a good code and it will help you and this also: The fdtd code can be changed to simulate fiber optics. You can only change the computational domain structure.
