I am trying to write script that creates an **output** **variable** that can be use as a goal function in an optimization routine for pattern synthesis.
I have a hard time putting all this together (either **hfss** or Designer).
Some questions:
1. can the desired pattern be an array defined by in imported series of points?

Unfortunately I can't test it at the moment, but here is an example for clarification:
If, for example, i will normalize the S-Parameter to a reactance of 30 Ohm at a frequency of 100 MHz i would use a capacitance of 53 pF.
Normally, at a frequency of 200 MHz this 53pF capacitor would lead to reactance of 15 Ohm. So the S-Parameter at this frequenc

Instead of using **hfss** to get the sum of all the Q values, use Matlab, it is much more easy.
After you plot the **variable** Q against frequency. Right click on the graph and export to .csv file. Then you can use Matlab to find the sum of all Q values.

I am trying to simulate capacitors with certain Q values as lumped elements!

This has been puzzled me for a while. There's no such thing like a "3dB BW" in **hfss**. I understand you may watch the s11 curve and measure the portion higher than -10 dB for the bandwidth. But how can you optimize it? Is there a way to write an express in "**output** **variable**" to calculate the 3dB BW automatically?

when designing a cavity resonator filter by KQ method in **hfss** v9.2, I simulate the single-port structure consists of the first resonator and the input port and get the phase of S11. I know we can directly get the Qe from the phase of S11 by the Macro in CST MWS.
Could you tell me whether I can also directly get Qe from the phase of S11 in **hfss**?
