In general, clock/high speed traces on PCB, are made in microstrip and stripline topology. Sometimes i find speed traces with GND plane very close on same layer (near traces), sometimes far away. Why ? Regards

Will a patch with very high er (80) bring the near field/far field boundary closer to the antenna by concentrating the radiated field more closely to itself? Thank you
Feko warning 563: The mom matrix is numerically singular, solution very critical. I try to a patch antenna but at low frequency down to 30-100MHz, the near field (10mm away from patch) is wrong. Any idea, comments. DVTsim

I don't see, how a resonance at lambda/10 could be achieved without additional tuning elements. The input impedance can't be real. Also the maximum radiation direction normal to the loop, as observed, can be concluded from simple symmetry considerations. P.S.: O.K. Hi All, I want to know if practically possible modifying the KU LNB to detect uplink signals from near vsat stations. Hi, The polarization of a EM wave is define by E field of plane wave. Plane wave occurs in the far-field of a radiating antenna. Am i right to say that even in the radiating near-field, the polarization of the EM wave is already defined ?
Hi, streamlet: In a 3D space, you can only display some quantity on a 2D plane. For far field, it is displaying the far field pattern on Theta and Phi. For near field, there are 3 variables there (x, y, z). One of the variables has to be discrete in order to be visualized in a 3D space. That is why you only see the cuts. Regards,
Yes, you also have to be careful not to use lumped ports if they could possibly couple to other things near them. Since they are not de-embedded, you should be careful about using them at high frequencies.
In your project tree in the left column, right click "Radiation", then "Insert far Field Setup", then "Infinite Sphere", default options should work fine. Repeat for near Field Setup with line or sphere...
