Hello, My task is to calculate all the impedances of a 1-4 Wilkinson power divider by using the even and odd-mode method. I'm not quiet sure how to do that,so could anyone help me with that?

Hallo, within my port_only_simulation (hfss) of coupled microstrip lines (2 top strip conductors, bottom ground layer) the even mode impedance is smaller than the odd mode impedance. Which gives negative k values. k=(Ze-Zo)/(Ze+Zo). The waveguide port covers the full plane. Any ideas ? Thanks for (...)

(1) Choosing the driven terminal (not driven modal); (2) draw two terminal lines when setting the waveports; (3) after simulation, you can get the differential impedance Zdiff and common impedance Zcomm. Then the even mode impedance Zeven = 2*Zcomm, the odd mode impedance Zodd = 0.5*Zdiff.
I see that you have defined only 1 mode in port definition, but since this is a coupled line, there could be even or odd mode, so I would enable 2 modes in the port definition. EDIT: admins move this topic to a ELMG forum, cos 99% people dealing with hfss will miss this one...

The integration line is the line where the E-field is integrated for obtaining Voltage. It decides the direction of E-field. For two-conductor system, the ingetration line should be from one conductor to another for odd-mode excitation and from conductor to ground for even-mode excitation.

When you assign a waveport which includes two or more conductors, you can pair them for even-odd mode excitation. I would recommend you to get some examples and slides from Ansoft homepage and try them first.
