## HFSS directional coupler

Hello, I need some help in design a directional coupler, I got the results in MWO but they does not match in hfss, any one know or have a file about special condition to design Directional coupler coupled line in hfss please help and I know to see the even and odd mode but I don't know how or calculate the (...)

## Even and Odd-mode Wilkinson power divider

Hello, My task is to calculate all the impedances of a 1-4 Wilkinson power divider by using the even and odd-mode method. I'm not quiet sure how to do that,so could anyone help me with that?

## hfss v12 Balanced Filter simulation

hi forks, does anybody know how to simulate balanced filter using hfss 12, i.e. how to excite the even mode and the odd mode? Thanks in advances.

## Even/Odd Mode Impedance Simulation of Patterned/Finite Ground Plane in ADS Momentum ?

Hello, I'm currently designing a Patterned (w/ Slots) Marchand Balun to increase the even/odd Impedance Ratio for good balance. LineCalc is able to simulate Zoe and Zoo given the width and spacing of a coupled lines but it assumes an infinite ground plane. However, for the patterned ground plane, the LineCalc would not be applicable. Any i

## even and odd mode excitation in HFSS

hi i m simulating a waveguide structure as a coupler. its a four port structure. i need to calculate even and odd mode propagation constant. i have used driven modal solution but it cannot calculate even odd mode beta. i have seen in some other threads that even and (...)

## hfss__coupled_microstrip_lines

Hallo, within my port_only_simulation (hfss) of coupled microstrip lines (2 top strip conductors, bottom ground layer) the even mode impedance is smaller than the odd mode impedance. Which gives negative k values. k=(Ze-Zo)/(Ze+Zo). The waveguide port covers the full plane. Any ideas ? Thanks for (...)

## Attenuation constant in a coupled line simulation

I'm using hfss for a specific coupled CPW line simulation. Driven modal are used. Two waveports are places at both ends of the coupled CPW line and two modes (even mode and odd mode) are excited at each waveport. However, at two ends of the coupled line, the simulated gamma shows (...)

## Even and odd mode impedance in HFSS 11

Seems the hfss 11 or 12 has some changes in result report. In hfss 10 or ealier version, I see the method to extract the even and odd mode impedances of couple-line as follows in the previous post. (1) Choosing the driven terminal (not driven modal); (2) draw two terminal lines when setting the (...)

## HELP!!! HFSS even-odd mode definition

Hello, friends. I would like to design a direction coupler at a center frequency of 2.6 GHz. I prefer to simulate the strukture in the hfss software. But i am not clear with the definition of the even and odd mode port definition. Can anyone give me some suggestions or send me some examples? Thanks a lot :) (...)

## how to set even- and odd-mode excitation in hfss

(1) Choosing the driven terminal (not driven modal); (2) draw two terminal lines when setting the waveports; (3) after simulation, you can get the differential impedance Zdiff and common impedance Zcomm. Then the even mode impedance Zeven = 2*Zcomm, the odd mode impedance Zodd = 0.5*Zdiff.

## HFSS: please check my simulation SET-up

I see that you have defined only 1 mode in port definition, but since this is a coupled line, there could be even or odd mode, so I would enable 2 modes in the port definition. EDIT: admins move this topic to a ELMG forum, cos 99% people dealing with hfss will miss this one...

## Differential and Common mode Impedance in HFSS

Dear all, I have simulated a differential pair lines (GSSG). I selected driven-modal solution for a number of modes of 2. From the E-field pattern, it is clear that mode 1 is even mode, mode 2 is odd mode. Question: The Zo in the matrix data: Zo mode (...)

## The differential pair in HFSS Driven Terminal Simulation

Hi, everyone. I have a question about the differential pair definition in hfss Driven Terminal simulation. I am wondering is the Differential Terminal Port Impedance equal to the odd impedance and the common terminal port impedance equal to the even mode impedance in the couple line. Actually, from the manual of the (...)

## HFSS waveport integration line

The integration line is the line where the E-field is integrated for obtaining Voltage. It decides the direction of E-field. For two-conductor system, the ingetration line should be from one conductor to another for odd-mode excitation and from conductor to ground for even-mode excitation.

## hfss:how to set even/odd-mode excitations for coupled lines?

Hi all, I have been recently trying to simulate a pair of coupled striplines in hfss. I tried but failed to obtain the coupled lines' characteristic impedance and relative dielectric constant for even-mode (Zoe, Epsilon-re)and odd-mode (Zoo, Epsilon-ro) excitations. I set two wave ports on two ends (...)

## HFSS driven modal analysis -- common mode

HI, folks: I've start running hfss on diff trace. There is only two metal traces in the model. I used driven modal analysis. Two modes are calculated by solver. mode1 is odd-mode and mode2 is even-mode. I am confused about that (...)

## How to get the even and odd mode by HFSS

When you assign a waveport which includes two or more conductors, you can pair them for even-odd mode excitation. I would recommend you to get some examples and slides from Ansoft homepage and try them first.
