Hi Bukero, You need to write an expression for refractive index, permittivity and permeability in terms on SYZ parameters. If you have the expressions, you create an output variable and plot them with respect to frequency. If you are using Driven Modal solution, you take a look at the effective epsilon and lambda from the Matrix data. -sv
Hi! I am currently trying out to get the value of an output variable in hfss 17.1 using a script. My problem is an Eigenvalue Problem and executing output.GetoutputvariableValue('Mode_1','','Setup1 : LastAdaptive','Eigenmode Parameters',{}) works, when I try to do the same thing for a (...)
Hello, I am trying to write script that creates an output variable that can be use as a goal function in an optimization routine for pattern synthesis. I have a hard time putting all this together (either hfss or Designer). Some questions: 1. can the desired pattern be an array defined by in imported series of points?
Dear all, Is it possible to process results in CST just like how we can use output variables in hfss? For example, in hfss I can define a new variable called 'ratio' which I specify as S21/S31. I need this because I'm running an optimizer in CST for antenna design. Any help would be greatly (...)
An other idea: You could define an output variable MyS11Parameter and calculate here your S11. And if you do complex renormalization check if the program does it right, i have seen some programs that have made wrong calculations for this case.
When you create your output variable, create another variable that makes use of the range functions...this is exactly what they are there for! in your case use the Catagory == Math -> Function == sum() function of a given existing output variable over a given calculation range of frequencies. Look up range (...)
You need to write the expression for Phase contant (beta). Create an output variable with the expression for the phase constant. Let me know if you are not able to do.
If I want to see the output variable fuction "ln(XL+j*sqrt(1-XL*XL))", how to define it using the output variables in hfss.
Hi everyone, I would like to ask how to write a function in creating report in hfss version 10. I know that there is a output variable to write function such as A-B. But I would like to ask how to write function if there is IF case. anyone have the example of writting function.
In output variables use cmplx command, e.g. cmplx(1,2) = 1 +2j
A simple way to calculate the effective dielectric constant of a transmission line is to use the unwrapped phse of the S21. The phase of S21 is electrical length of the transmission line in degree. So, you can plot the effective dielectric constant versus frequencies by adding an expression of the output variable as shown below. θ=(2*pi/&#
Hello, I have a question about hfss script. I have a problem when I want to use an output variable in a mathematical expression. I try to use the command "o.design.Getoutput variableValue" to put the value of the "output variable" in a declared variable but (...)
This has been puzzled me for a while. There's no such thing like a "3dB BW" in hfss. I understand you may watch the s11 curve and measure the portion higher than -10 dB for the bandwidth. But how can you optimize it? Is there a way to write an express in "output variable" to calculate the 3dB BW automatically? Thanks Add
I am designing a waveguide filter using hfss and need to see the group delay of the filter but I donnt know how to see it in hfss.I think maybe using the "output variable" in the postprocessing but I cannt not edit the formular. help , plz!

It's very simple, dear burton. You need to use in Report field a output variable the next type: Qe=im(Y(1,1))/re(Y(1,1)). For this variable you can make a plot or a table. Good luck!
