The usual solution is to use inverted logic (active low) for 8051 outputs.
I presume Intouch has a driver for serial devices with user specific protocols, but the best solution in terms of automation standards would be to implement serial MODBUS protocol in your 8051 device. See for the full specification.
You didn't yet mention 8051. It has open drain outputs with weak pull-ups instead of regular push-pull outputs. As a simple solution, you can place strong (e.g. 1k) pull-ups. If you also want safe reset behaviour, an inverting driver (like 74HC04) between 8051 and MOSFET is suggested.

Easiest solution ever. Use MAX232 from , download the datasheet for h/w connection. Use Timer0 or Timer1 as a baudrate generator (You can find here a good 8051 baudrate calculator ) and start talking to your uC serially. Hope that helps.
